چکیده
Large corporations are attempting to cut development costs by relying on integrating several COTS to achieve partial or complete business solutions. That the benefits are not turning out as expected is slowly becoming a recognized issue. In this paper, we address some of the reasons why integration of COTS is a challenge.

Conceptual Model for Integration of COTS Components
Several aspects of Commercial Off-The-Self (COTS) component integration are being discussed in the literature as challenges to utilizing COTS components in software development. Among these issues are interface matching, inter-component communications, functional matching, and integration testing. This paper highlights potential problems and risks associated with integrating COTS components, ev...

In recent years, Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) have emerged as one of the most active areas in the field of technology to provide a wide range of services, including road safety, passenger's safety, amusement facilities for passengers and emergency facilities. Due to the lack of flexibility, complexity and high dynamic network topology, the development and management of current Vehicular A...
متن کاملSystem Integration using Model-Driven Engineering∗
With the maturation of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) component middleware technologies, such as Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) (Sun Microsystems, 2001), CORBA Component Model (CCM) (CORBA Components, 2002), and Microsoft .NET Framework (Microsoft Corporation, 2002), software developers are increasingly faced with the task of integrating heterogeneous enterprise distributed systems built using di...
متن کاملSystem Development Using the Integrating Component Architectures Process
The purpose of this paper is to present a software development process that considers interoperability problems associated with integrating in-house systems with COTS products. The Integrating Component Architectures Process (ICAP) outlines a process that includes predicting interoperability conflicts among independent components, COTS included, based on architectural differences. Previously de...
متن کاملULS System Integration via Model Composition
Component middleware technologies are generally a more effective technology base to build ULS systems than the brittle proprietary infrastructure used in legacy systems, which have historically been built in a vertical, stove-piped fashion. With the emergence of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) component middleware technologies, such as Enterprise Java Beans (EJB), CORBA Component Model (CCM) an...
